Tribunal settles 39,323 cases filed by homebuyers

PUTRAJAYA (Jan 5): The Housing and Strata Management Tribunal has settled more than 95% or 39,323 cases involving the Tribunal for Homebuyer Claims (THC) and the Strata Management Tribunal (SMT) for the period between 2018 and 2022, said Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming (pictured).

Of the total, he said 7,202 involved THC, and 32,121 were SMT.

“These include pending cases from the previous year,” Nga said in a statement on Thursday, adding that he wanted  the performance to continue, to improve the efficiency of service delivery for the people.

Meanwhile, Nga said a total of 7,909 TTPR cases and 31,364 SMT cases were filed during the same period.

The Housing and Strata Management Tribunal, which is divided into two categories — THC and SMT — was established as an alternative platform to resolve housing disputes between homebuyers and developers as well as matters related to strata management at minimal costs.
